Less than 3 miles from Appleby, in the direction of Great Asby Village follow the signs to Rutter Falls - an impressive waterfall nestling at the end of a country lan in the heart of the Eden Valley.
Relax in absolute tranquility as you marvel at this lovely setting from the footbridge.
Fresh coffee, homemade cakes and scones are availiable from the riverside cafe, also delicious ice cream and milk shakes. By the ford you can also feed the fowl with a tub of grain.
Then ample along to `BUG-IN-A-RUG` - a gallery housed in the old mill and power station - a fine ancient building in natural stone with 'back shot' water-wheel. You can often observe tranditional rag-mugs being expertly crafted in the gallery whilst browsing the wide selection of original paintings and prints, all manner of object d`art and gifts to suit all ages and pockets. 'Bug-in-a-Rug' at Rutter Falls is a little known secret
- a hidden oasis in the Eden Valley. We are open everyday 10 - 5.30 from Easter - October and weekends in November and December.
